There are Many Types of Marine Operations

There are several different types of marine operations, from naval exercises on the high seas to transfer operations conducted everyday at ports around the world. This latter type of operation most often occurs between tankers, barges, and marine terminals. After the vessel is secured in port, a loading arm or transfer hose will connect the two and begin offloading or loading, or even supplying oil. However, in order to transfer any petroleum products during marine operations, there needs to be a loading master, a deck officer, or a Tankerman that has a merchant mariner’s document present at the time. In addition to safety precautions, there are also a number of environmental precautions to which these operations must adhere.
